Nintendo Switch hack fw 3.0

Yesterday, Nintendo released Firmware 3.0 for the Nintendo Switch. However Team ReSwitched, the hacker collective behind PegaSwitch, announced that they have undisclosed bugs that make their hacking tool compatible with the latest Switch firmware 3.0.

What is PegaSwitch?

PegaSwitch is a series of tools to hack the Nintendo Switch. It is currently working publicly on firmwares 1.0 and 2.0, but firmware 2.1.0 patched the publicly known exploits to launch PegaSwitch. (People who are still on firmwares 1.0 or 2.0 can check the PegaSwitch site for details.)

Although the functionality of PegaSwitch is currently very limited, having open doors to the Switch system is the first step to a future homebrew scene.

PegaSwitch working on Nintendo Switch firmwares 2.3 and 3.0?

Team ReSwitched had announced a few weeks ago that they got PegaSwitch to work on firmware 2.3, the latest at the time. Although the new firmware 3.0 does apparently patch some vulnerabilities, developer Daeken confirmed that their undisclosed exploit still works on 3.0.

It is unclear at the moment when (or if) Team ReSwitched will release an update of PegaSwitch for the latest firmware (Daeken has however stated it would be released if/when Nintendo patches the exploits used). In the meantime, as always, if you are looking to hack your console, stay on as low a firwmare as you possibly can, until something is actually released.
