Finally.. A feature that should’ve been included from the get go is now available. Now, you don’t have to rely on shoddy estimates that don’t really represent how much is left in the tank (battery). Thanks to developer ‘nowrep’, we’re getting a relatively useful feature that I’ve wanted for quite a while.
It’s a pretty straightforward plugin with one great function. You can now check your Vitas battery percentage in the status bar in LiveArea. With this plugin, you get an accurate reading of how much juice is left in your Vita’s battery. This plugin is like the gas guage battery hack in older versions of iOS for iDevices. Another cool feature is that since this plugin is implemented into SCEShell, if you long press your PS button, you can see your battery when you see the quick settings menu.
How do I get it?
Getting this plugin is relatively simple if you have a device with FTP access. All you need to do is to download the plugin on a device from the link below. After that, copy it to ux0:tai on youe Vita and add it under the *main section of ‘config.txt’. Unfortunately, Vita Homebrew Browser doesn’t support installing plugins so you gotta do it yourself. For it to work, you must reboot as a simple reload of ‘config.txt’ isn’t enough due to this plugin being part of SCEShell. You can get the download from below. Note that the current release is r2 which fixes a bug after waking up from sleep.
